ICC fined Stokes team for ‘Dhadam’ in WTC; also made English.

Delhi: England defeated India by 22 runs in the third Test match played at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London to take a 2–1 lead in the five matches Test series. With this victory, England registered their second win in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27.

England, ICC action fell in WTC points table

After this exciting victory, a bad news has come out for England. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken strict action against the England team due to a slow over rate in Lord’s Test. Captain Ben Stokes -led team has been fined 10 percent of the match fee and two points of the World Test Championship have also been deducted.

Due to this action, England team has come down to third place in the points table. Sri Lanka has now reached the second place, while Australia remains in the first place. India is currently fourth.

Violation of code of conduct

The ICC said that the fine on England has been imposed under Section 2.22 of the Code of Conduct, which covers crimes related to the minimum over rate. According to the rule, not completing the bowling within the stipulated time is fined 5% of the match fee for the over.

Ben Stokes accepts mistake

England captain Ben Stokes has accepted the allegation of slow over rate and has also accepted the fine imposed by match referee Richie Richardson. Due to this, no formal hearing of the case was held. The allegations were leveled by field umpire Paul Refel and Sharfuddaula Ibne Shahid, Third Umpire Ahsan Raza and Fourth Umpire Graham Lloyd.

Series next match in Manchester

The fourth match of the five -match exciting Test series will be played from July 23 at the Old Trafford Maidan in Manchester, where India will have to win to return to the series. At the same time, England’s eyes will be on making an unbeatable lead in the series.
