Delhi: Pakistan will host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but the news of the Indian team not going to Pakistan has raised questions on the future of this tournament. There are mixed reactions regarding this issue among Indian fans. Some believe that sports should be kept away from politics and Team India should go to Pakistan for the tournament.
Meanwhile, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has also supported the Indian team going to Pakistan. He said that it is not right to mix sports and politics. Tejashwi raised the question that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi can go to Pakistan to eat biryani, then why is it wrong for the players of the Indian cricket team to go to Pakistan for an important tournament.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Tejashwi said, “Politics should not be brought into sports. India should go there (Pakistan), other teams should come to India. Doesn’t every country participate in the Olympics? So what objection does India have to going to Pakistan? If the Prime Minister can go there for biryani, then what is the problem in the Indian team going?”
This statement of Tejashwi Yadav is getting support from fans on social media. Cricket lovers want the Indian team to participate in this mega event and be seen in action.
Tension continues between ICC and PCB
At the same time, regarding the Champions Trophy, the Indian government has made it clear that Team India will not go to Pakistan. After this, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has called an important meeting on Friday, 29 November. The purpose of this meeting is to end the uncertainty over the schedule and venue of the tournament.
However, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has told ICC a day earlier that it will not accept the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy. PCB has also made it clear that this option should not be discussed in the meeting.
Now it remains to be seen what decision is taken on this dispute in the ICC meeting and whether the Champions Trophy 2025 will be held as per its scheduled schedule.
