Delhi: Australian cricket legend Adam Gilchrist praised the all-round talent of Indian batsman KL Rahul and his performance in the Perth Test. Rahul played an important role in helping India win by 295 runs against Australia by sharing a partnership of more than 200 runs with Yashasvi Jaiswal.

All-round ability cannot be ignored
Gilchrist praised Rahul’s ability to play in every format and play different roles as per the need of the team. He said, “KL Rahul has performed in every format. However, there has been a lack of consistency in his performance. But, his all-round ability cannot be ignored. The special thing is that he was not even a part of the original team of this tour, yet he proved his usefulness.”
Ability to play every role for the team
Gilchrist described Rahul’s batting position and wicket-keeping ability as his biggest strengths. He said, “Rahul has batted at every position from 1 to 6. He has made his place in T20, ODI and Test cricket. His role in the Perth Test was not limited to just scoring runs, but he also guided young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal. This is a game of partnership, and Rahul proved to be excellent in it.”
Need to recognize Rahul’s contribution
While Yashasvi Jaiswal is making headlines for his maiden Test century, Gilchrist said that KL Rahul should get equal credit for his contribution. “Rahul played a big role in taking India to a strong position. His innings gave balance to the team and also inspired a young player.”
With his performance in the Perth Test, KL Rahul showed how important a player he is for the team. Now it will be interesting to see whether he is able to maintain this rhythm in the coming matches or not.
