Delhi: Pakistan cricket team bowling coach Azhar Mahmood believes that the team’s fast bowlers are performing personally well, but have failed to perform collectively as a unit. He emphasized that the bowlers need to perform well together.
In his recent statement, Azhar Mahmood said, “If one bowler performs well, the other does not reach that level. It is better that the three fast bowlers perform well together, which gives more benefit to the team.” He appreciated Haris Rauf’s performance and said that he bowled well in a match, but the rest of the bowlers could not touch that level.
Azhar described the current Pakistan team as a team of young players and said that many players had to face injuries, but they have shown the spirit of struggle. He said, “We have lost the series, but have not been out of any big tournament. A score of 160 is not considered competitive in modern cricket, now only 180 or more than 200 score is safe.”
Regarding Shaheen Shah Afridi’s performance, he said that he was unfortunate, because many of his balls were topped, but he could not get wickets. He said that the tour of New Zealand has always been challenging and the team will have to move forward with a lesson from it. He also told that Pakistan will try to reduce the difference of defeat by winning the final match of the series.
Significantly, the final match of the five-match T20 series between Pakistan and New Zealand will be played on Wednesday. However, Pakistan has already lost the series, but the team would like to get a respectable farewell by winning the final match.
