Delhi: Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) on Monday announced that ticket holders of the second T20 International match between India and England will be provided free metro service to and from Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. This T20 series, which is starting from Kolkata on January 22, will reach Chennai for the second match on Saturday.

Expected huge crowd in Chepauk

Tickets for the second T20 match have been completely sold out and a huge crowd is expected at Chepauk Stadium for this match to be held on Sunday. This match is especially important because it is taking place after the Pongal festival. Chennai Metro Rail in collaboration with TNCA had provided the facility of free metro travel for ticket holders even during the IPL 2023 season. The move is aimed at reducing potential traffic jams around the stadium, as the venue is located near Marina Beach.

Benefits of free metro service

“Match ticket holders can avail free metro travel in both directions,” TNCA said in a post on social media. This service will provide convenience to the spectators traveling to the match and they will be able to reach the stadium through metro without worrying about any traffic.

First white ball match after 2023

This will be the first international match in Chennai, which is being held after the Test match against Bangladesh in September 2024. Apart from this, this will also be the first white-ball match after the 2023 World Cup at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
