Delhi: Ireland women’s cricket team is playing a three-match ODI series on India tour. The second match of the series was played at the Saurashtra Cricket Stadium in Rajkot on 12 January, i.e. Sunday. In this match, the Indian women’s team performed brilliantly and won by 116 runs. Batting first, India set a huge target of 371 runs for Ireland, chasing which the Irish team could score only 254 runs.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Indian team scored 370 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in 50 overs. Jemimah Rodrigues played an excellent century and scored 102 runs. Openers Smriti Mandhana (73) and Pratika Rawal (67) made a strong partnership of 156 runs for the first wicket. Harleen Deol played an important inning of 89 runs in the middle order. In bowling for Ireland, Oral Prendergest and Arlene Kelly took 2 wickets each, while Georgie Dempsey got 1 success.

With this victory, India has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series and clinched the series. The last match of the series will be played on this ground on 15 January. Now it will be interesting to see whether the Irish team is able to avoid whitewash by winning the last match or not.
