Delhi: On Wednesday, India defeated England by 7 wickets in the first T20 International match played at the Eden Gardens Stadium and took a 1-0 lead in the series. In the match, England won the toss and decided to bat first, but they could score only 132 runs in 20 overs. Captain Jos Buttler played a brilliant inning of 68 runs on behalf of the guests, but the Indian spinners destroyed the English middle order. Varun Chakraborty and Akshar Patel bowled brilliantly and took 3 and 2 wickets respectively.

On the other hand, while chasing the target, the Indian batsmen performed tremendously. Abhishek Sharma scored 79 runs in 34 balls, which included 5 fours and 8 sixes. With its help, the hosts achieved the target in just 12.5 overs. However, the Man of the Match award was given to Varun Chakraborty. With this win, India has achieved another feat on its home ground. In fact, Team India has made a new record in terms of consecutive wins on one ground among full member teams in T20 International cricket.

Let us tell you that England has registered 8 consecutive wins in Cardiff between 2010 and 2021, which is the highest record till date. Apart from this, Pakistan has won 7 consecutive matches between 2008 and 2021 in Karachi. Now, India has also made a record of 7 consecutive wins in Kolkata between 2016 to 2025. India has jointly become the second team in this matter.
