Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the latest ODI ranking on Wednesday, in which the position of the Indian bowlers looked weak. If we talk about the top-10, only one Indian bowler has been able to make it to the place.
A major reason for the poor situation in the ODI rankings of Indian bowlers may also be that Team India had played only three matches in this format last year.
In the top-10 of the ODI rankings, only spinner Kuldeep Yadav is included from India. He is in third place with 656 ratings. At the same time, the situation of Pakistan is also not special. Shaheen Afridi is only in the top-10 from Pakistan, which is ninth with 619 ratings.
In the ODI rankings, Sri Lanka’s Mahish Tikrita is at the top with a 680 rating. After him, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan (658 ratings) ranks second. This is followed by Kuldeep Yadav (656 ratings) of India, Keshav Maharaj (641 rating) of South Africa, and Bernard Sholtz (641 rating) of Namibia is at fifth place. Interestingly, the top-5 bowlers of ODI have all spinners.
ICC ODI rankings: Top-10 bowlers list
- Mahish Tishta (Sri Lanka)
- Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)
- Kuldeep Yadav (India)
- Keshav Maharaj (South Africa)
- Bernard Sholtz (Namibia)
- Matt Henry (New Zealand)
- Mitchell Santner (New Zealand)
- Goodkesh Moti (West Indies)
- Shaheen Afridi (Pakistan)
- Adam Zampa (Australia)
It is clear from this ranking that the spin bowlers are currently dominated in ODI cricket, while the Indian fast bowlers are seen lagging behind in the rankings.
