Delhi: India’s veteran umpire Anil Chaudhary has taken goodbye to his umpiring career from International Cricket and Indian Premier League (IPL). He started the umpiring career in 2013 and so far umpiring 12 Tests, 49 ODIs and 131 IPL matches. Apart from this, he has also umpiring 91 first class, 114 List A and 28 T20 matches.

Last umpiring match

Chaudhary’s last umpiring match was in the final of the Ranji Trophy, where Vidarbha defeated Kerala based on the first innings lead. His final match was held on 27 September, when India faced Australia in Rajkot. Interestingly, this was the same place where he started his international umpiring career with a T20 match between India and Australia in 2013.

Till to commentary

However, Chaudhary is not going away completely from cricket. He has stepped into commentary after retiring from umpiring. He has commented during the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy and is very happy with this new experience. He said, “I have changed myself into a commentator. This is a new experience for me. I have been behind Mike for the last six months. I commented during the Champions Trophy, although I also participated in umpiring during the Ranji Trophy final. I have got a very good feedback about umpiring. It happens.”

No retirement from umpiring

Chaudhary also said that he is not fully retiring from umpiring. He will now umpire in T20 Leagues in UAE and America. Also, he will play the role of commentator. In addition, he is going to launch a YouTube channel “Umpire’s Call by Anil Chaudhary”, in which he will train umpires. He told that he will also start a company “Voice & Verdict”, which will train the umpires.
