Delhi: The World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final is to be played between Australia and South Africa. Two Indians are also going to play a special role in this big match. Even though the Indian team is not playing in the final this time, Indian cricket has still got a chance to be proud.
Shrinath-Manon will be the match official
The ICC has confirmed that former Indian bowler Jawagal Srinath and umpire Nitin Menon will be involved in the match as a match official. The match will be played at Lord’s from 11 June.
Jawagal Srinath will perform as a match referee in this match. After retiring from cricket, he has become the most experienced and trusted match referee of ICC. This will be another big place of his career.
Nitin Menon has been given the role of the fourth umpire in this match. This will be the first time he will join the World Test Championship final. Prior to this, he has played the role of TV umpire in the T20 World Cup final in 2021.
The rest of the umpiring team also includes big and experienced names. Richard Illingworth of England will be an on-field umpire in the WTC final for the third time. He was also elected ICC Umpire of the Year in 2024. He will be accompanied by Chris Gaffaini of New Zealand. The two have already worked together in the 2023 WTC final and the T20 World Cup final of 2022.
The TV umpire will play the role of England veteran umpire Richard Kettleborough. He has umpiring in many big ICC tournaments and his experience will be very important in this big match.
