Delhi: The Indian cricket team is going through a major change, where veteran players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have retired, and the captaincy of the Test team has now been handed over to young opener Shubman Gill. His first assignment will be England tour. In England, Team India last won the Test series in 2007. There is no dearth of challenges in such a situation.
India’s veteran batsman Cheteshwar Pujara believes that the players will have a real test on this tour. He said on the Sony Sports Network, “The Indo-England Test series has always been the real criterion of a team’s firmness. In the last 100 years, India has won only 3 out of 19 series on England’s soil, which shows how challenging this match has been for us.”
He further said, “With a young and energetic team, this tour is a significant turn for Indian cricket. I want to see how this team faces this challenge and how to establish new criteria for the coming generations.”
The series will start from June 20, the first Test match will be played in the headingley. The match will also start the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. Meanwhile, former all -rounder Irfan Pathan said that this series will be the most difficult test for the team so far. He further said, “Test cricket skills, patience and character in England are the final test.
