Delhi: In Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, the gang that bet on the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has been exposed. On Friday evening, police raided the Civil Lines police station area and arrested 9 people.

City Superintendent of Police Kumar Ranvijay Singh said that on receiving information from the informer, the police raided a house near the Police Training College, where betting was being done. During the raid, 9 people were arrested from the spot. The arrested accused have been identified as Sushil alias Surendra, Hemant Kumar, Abhinav, Kaushal Kapoor, Vipul Juil, Manoj Arora, Dharmendra Kumar, Rohit Gupta and Mohammad Shahzade.

Police have recovered about one and a half lakh rupees in cash, several mobile phones, ATM cards, betting documents and weapons from the spot. The recovered arms include a pistol, six cartridges, a 32 -bore revolver, seven cartridges of 315 bore and nine pistol cartridges.

The Superintendent of Police said that the gang was running a network of betting on IPL matches and its roots may have spread to other places. At present, the police is investigating this network thoroughly and the search for other accused is going on.
