Delhi: The auction process for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) has been completed. Star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has moved from Delhi Capitals (DC) to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), while KL Rahul has moved from Lucknow to Delhi. Similarly, Shreyas Iyer has also joined the team of Punjab Kings (PBKS) from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The picture is clear regarding the future of Pant and Iyer, but there is still doubt regarding the captaincy of KL Rahul.
Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal has given a statement that two players in the team are strong contenders for captaincy. After this statement, discussions regarding Rahul’s captaincy have intensified. He said, “We have a young batting lineup in our team. Both KL and Axar (Patel) are strong contenders for leadership and will guide the team with their experience. Rahul’s batting and his experience will play an important role for the team.
It is noteworthy that Delhi Capitals had retained Akshar Patel for Rs 16.5 crore. At the same time, he has included KL Rahul in the auction by paying a huge amount of Rs 14 crore. In such a situation, there were speculations that Rahul would be the captain of Delhi in the upcoming season, but after the statement of Parth Jindal, uncertainty regarding his captaincy has increased. This means that Akshar Patel also seems to be a strong contender for captaincy.
