Ajinkya Rahane can become the new captain of KKR
Defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders is preparing to hand over the captaincy to Team India’s veteran batsman Ajinkya Rahane for next year’s IPL. According to a media report, KKR has decided to give Ajinkya Rahane the leadership of the team and now only his name is left to be approved.
There is every possibility of Rahane being given the captaincy – reports
A media report quoted the source as saying, “Yes, at the moment it is 90 percent sure that Ajinkya Rahane will be the captain of KKR. He was bought specifically with the aim of being a viable captaincy option.”
KKR bought Ajinkya Rahane for the base price of Rs 1.5 crore in the last moments of the mega auction. Although after the release of Shreyas Iyer, there have been reports of giving captaincy to Rinku Singh or Venkatesh Iyer, but at present it is believed that Rahane is the strongest option for captaincy.
