Delhi: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) young spinner Digvesh Rathi is in the news due to his deadly bowling and special celebration style. This season, he has sent many big batsmen to the pavilion, but his ‘Notebook Celebration’ has become a topic of discussion among cricket lovers after taking wickets every time.
What is ‘Notebook Celebration’?
Whenever Digvesh dismisses a batsman, he opens a fictional notebook in the air, acts to write something in it and then indicates the name of someone. This celebration as if it shows that the batsman is now out of his list. This style has become quite viral on social media.
Digvesh Rathi made a big disclosure
Lucknow Super Giants recently shared a video on their social media, in which Digvesh told the thinking behind this celebration. He said, “Whenever I play in a tournament, I take a notebook and write the names of the batsmen in it. I cut them out of it.” According to Digvesh, this method gives them motivation.
Strictness of BCCI
However, this unique celebration also brought difficulties for Digvesh. The BCCI, considering it as a ‘provocative’ behavior, imposed a fine on them several times and also gave demerit points. He received a warning and fine for the first time after dismissing Priyansh Arya in the match against Punjab Kings. After this, after dismissing Naman Dheer against Mumbai Indians (Mi), he repeated the same celebration, which led to further strict action against him.
Ban of a match
After the wicket of Abhishek Sharma in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the controversy over his celebration increased further. The BCCI considered it against the sportsmanship and banned Digvesh for a match.
Favorite made between fans
Even though there is a dispute about this celebration, but this style of Digvesh Rathi is being liked a lot among the fans. Cricket lovers say that their method fills a new and entertaining color in the game.
