Delhi: Indian veteran fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah returned to the cricket field from the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) after a long wait. Playing for Mumbai Indians (Mi), he bowled brilliantly in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), although his team lost by 12 runs. However, Bumrah’s return gave relief to fans and team management.

This was Jassi’s first match after the Test match against Australia in January. After the return, he did not take any wicket for 29 runs in 4 overs, but ate only two sixes in the entire spell and was the most economical bowler.

In such a situation, Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene praised Jaspreet Bumrah and said that he would get better over time. The Sri Lankan great batsman and former captain said, “He bowled with good speed and accuracy. He appeared in rhythm and implemented his plans well.” The coach said that Bumrah took fitness clearance from BCCI’s Center of Excellence before his return and then practiced in the nets with the team.

Jayawardene further said, “They have returned after a long break, so we wanted to bring him back slowly. But, he showed excellent control. Over time he will be better.”

Let us tell you that in the match, Bumrah threw one over during powerplay, mid-overs and death overs. At the same time, MI scored 52 runs in the last 4 overs, but Bumrah scored only 14 runs in two overs.

Although the team with the blue jersey has suffered defeat in 4 out of 5 matches so far this season, but Bumrah’s return is a positive sign for the team.
