Delhi: In IPL 2025, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and now Lucknow Super Giants – three teams have been unhappy with their home pitch. Mentor Zaheer Khan of Lucknow Super Giants expressed his displeasure over the pitch after the team’s defeat.
Not even benefited on home ground
LSG lost by 8 wickets against Punjab Kings in its first home game. After the match, Zaheer said, “The most disappointing thing is that the curator did not think that this is our home ground. Pitch’s wrong studies or curator’s mistake?
Prior to the match, Zaheer Khan was seen inspecting the pitch with Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant. When asked if the team read the pitch wrongly, he replied, “We trust the curator’s words. We are not looking at it as an excuse, but the domestic team needs to get support. Everyone understood that it is the team of Lucknow and we need a favorable environment to win here.
Question on Lucknow’s domestic record
After this defeat, the home record of Lucknow has now won only 7 wins in 15 matches. Also, more than 200 runs have been scored in these 15 matches only once, which is clear that the pitch was not favorable for the batsmen.
Need to move forward
Zaheer Khan admitted that his team would have to make a better strategy. He said, “This is the nature of IPL. We have to play on both domestic and external grounds. Punjab beat us in every department, but whatever cricket we have played so far, we have shown the right mindset. We will play with this passion and struggle further.”
