Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has included Madhya Pradesh mystery spinner Shivam Shukla in his team for the remaining session of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 in place of West Indies all -rounder Roveman Powell. The Kolkata franchise took this step when Powell and England all -rounder Moeen Ali did not return to India when the tournament resumes on 17 May.

KKR said in a statement on Sunday, “Rowman is going through a medical process.”

Significantly, 29 -year -old Shivam Shukla’s experience in domestic cricket has been limited. He has played only one Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season so far, in which he took 8 wickets in 8 matches.

Shivam recently came into the limelight due to his brilliant performance in the Madhya Pradesh Premier League (MPPL), where he took 10 wickets and made it to the top wickets of the tournament, including a five wicket hall.

Meanwhile, KKR is out of the playoff race of IPL 2025. On Saturday, his match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium was rainy and the match was canceled without throwing a single ball.

KKR, captained by Ajinkya Rahane, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have become the fourth team to be out of the tournament. Knight Riders will now play their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday, 25 May.
