Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who are preparing for IPL 2025, have suffered a major setback. Umran Malik, the important player of his fast bowling unit, has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury. In his place, the franchise has included left -arm fast bowler Chetan Sakaria in the team. Chetan has been signed for 75 lakh rupees.

Umran Malik was bought by KKR for Rs 75 lakh after his release from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 2025 mega auction. However, due to injury, he will not be able to be a part of this season. Umran has played 26 matches in the IPL so far, but he has never been able to play the entire season except 2022. He played the last international match for India in 2023, after which he has been out of the team.
