The opening match of IPL 2025 will be played on 22 March between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kolkata Metro has announced a special service till late night for this match to be held at the historic Eden Gardens ground in Kolkata, so that cricket fans do not have any problem in reaching their destination.

Regarding this, it has been decided to operate extended metro services by KKR after a request made by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Given the expected number of spectators at the Eden Gardens, the authorities have taken strict steps to prevent congestion and provide smooth transport options for fans late at night.

Special metro services will be available from Esplaynade station on both blue line and Green Line-2, which will cover important routes for fans returning home from the stadium. During this period, the booking counters will be open at Old Esplande and New Aspland Metro stations for the sale of smart cards, tokens and paper-based QR tickets. However, in addition to regular fare, the price of Rs 10 per ticket will be applicable.

Blue Line Metro Special Service

Towards Dusksheshwar- A special metro (Special 1) will leave Esplaynade at 00:15 pm and reach Dakshineswar at 00:48 pm.

Poet Subhash- Another special metro (Special 2) will leave from Esplaynade at 00:15 and the poet will arrive at Subhash at 00:48 pm. Both services will stop at all stations on their respective routes.

Green Line-2 Metro Special Service

Towards Howrah Maidan- A special train (special 1) will run from Esplaynade at 00:15 pm and reach Howrah Maidan at 00:23 pm.
