Veteran Australian opener David Warner managed to make headlines in the mega auction of IPL 2025 held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. However, this time he made headlines because he remained unsold in the IPL auction.

On the other hand, now after David Warner remained unsold in the IPL auction, former Indian cricketer and well-known cricket commentator Aakash Chopra has reacted. It is noteworthy that Warner has been one of the most successful foreign players in IPL.

Warner has scored 6565 runs in 184 matches played. He is one of the highest run-scorers in tournament history as a foreign batsman. Warner has scored more than 500 runs in 7 consecutive seasons. Apart from this, he has also won the Orange Cap in his name.

On the other hand, despite such a stellar track record, Warner’s performance with Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 was disappointing. Last season, Warner could score only 168 runs in eight innings at an average of 21.00. However, Chopra believes that this performance alone cannot justify his remaining unsold in the auction.

Aakash Chopra gave a big statement

Let us tell you that after David Warner remained unsold in the IPL auction, Aakash Chopra said through a video uploaded on his YouTube channel – Some people were not sold and some had statements that they would not take David Warner. You were getting David Warner for Rs 2 crore.

He is the GOAT of IPL, his Aadhaar card is already made. He dances to South Indian songs, and loves India very much, but no one bought it. This cannot be because of cricket. Faf du Plessis sold, if Faf can be sold, then why not David Warner?

Chopra further said- Two Australian coaches Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer were also sitting there, but no one bought them. I don’t know about it but common sense says you wouldn’t pick David Warner just for non-cricketing reasons.
