Delhi: In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, 21 -year -old leg -spinner Suyash Sharma, who played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), shared his injury and return story in RCB’s show ‘Bold Diaries’. Suyash told that he had three hernia problems and RCB got him treated in London. Team Physio James Pipei and his family supported him like his family. Suyash said, “I was playing in pain for two years, but now I am fully fit. I did not think I would play the first match, but the team showed confidence in me.”

Long path to enter IPL

Suyash told that he had never played any big tournament before playing IPL. Only played under-25 cricket and kept going in trials for 6-7 years, but was not selected. His family always maintained confidence in him. He got a chance in IPL after a brilliant performance in a KKR trial match. At that time his father was in the hospital and when he received the news of selection, he wept emotionally.

Made debut against RCB

Suyash made his debut against RCB in IPL. He said, “I had never even gone to watch the match in the stadium. That day was nervous to see the ground and the crowd. But as soon as I threw the first over, everything started feeling fine. I could not say that moment in words. I always believed that I would play IPL, but did not think that I would get a chance so soon”

Mental preparation after surgery

Suyash was on the rest for three months after the injury. He told that at that time he continued to prepare himself mentally. He said, “I used to imagine my bowling every day, how will I put every ball, what a run-up would be, when I started bowling again, I did not feel that I had forgotten anything.”

Natural bowling action and hard work

Suyash told that he was initially a batsman, but later became a spinner while bowling in the park. His bowling action is completely natural. “Constant bowling is necessary for vist spinners. If not even a week, a lot can be wrong. That is why I have consistently thought and imagined in 3 months, so that there is no problem in returning.”

Did not lose courage even after father’s death

Suyash’s father died of cancer two years ago. At that time, Suyash was slowly starting to identify. He told, “My mother has been my teacher. My father had a factory business. After he left, my family remained my strength. They never doubted me because they saw my hard work.”

RCB is the only goal to win the trophy

Working with his coach Malolan Rangarajan in RCB, he worked hard on his bowling and run-up. Regarding IPL 2025, he said, “I have only one goal, win the trophy with the team this year. This is my dream.”
