Delhi: Punjab Kings (PBKS) broke the record of scoring the most runs in Powerplay against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the match played in Hyderabad on Saturday, Punjab Kings’ unaccounted openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhasimran Singh showed this feat while batting stormy in the first 6 overs.
Punjab scored 89 runs in 6 overs in Powerplay. Priyansh scored 36 runs in just 13 balls, while Prabhasimran also made an aggressive start. After this, captain Shreyas Iyer took the front.
The score of 89/1 is the second largest powerplay score in the IPL history of Punjab Kings. Earlier in 2024, he successfully followed the target of 262 runs by making 93/1 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), which was the biggest successful chase of the IPL.
