Delhi: Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson was fined ₹ 24 lakh due to a slow over speed rate in the IPL 2025 match played against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Wednesday. This is the second time this season, when Rajasthan Royals have violated the rules of slow over speed. Earlier, Stand-in captain Ryan Parag was fined ₹ 12 lakh after the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
According to the IPL media release, “The rest of the members of the playing XI, including the impact player, will be fined either ₹ 6 lakh or 25%of their match fees, whichever is low.”
In this match, Rajasthan suffered a crushing defeat against Gujarat by 58 runs. In the match played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat scored 217 runs while batting first. In response, Rajasthan’s team could score 159 runs in 19.2 overs.
After the defeat, captain Sanju Samson admitted that his team allowed the match to slip on important occasions. He said, “We gave 15-20 runs in bowling more, when we wanted Momentum, we lost wickets. Runs were coming with Hetmyer, but after my wicket fell, the match got out of our hands.”
Sanju played an important innings of 41 runs in 28 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes. He shared a 48 -run partnership with Ryan Parag, which raised some hope, but the Gujarat bowlers did not give any chance to return.
