Delhi: The Delhi Capitals (DC) did not include star wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul in the playing XI in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match played against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday. Rahul, who scored a century against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the last match, has been placed in the list of ‘Impact Substitutes’.

Although the franchise did not officially explain the reason for keeping Rahul out, but it is understood that the team does not want to take any risk after the ball hit on his right knee during practice on Tuesday.

In the absence of Rahul, Bengal’s young wicketkeeper Abhishek Porel has got a place in the team, who is handling the responsibility of wicketkeeping. Another big reason for vigilance about Rahul is that India has to visit England, where KL Rahul can get a chance after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s retirement from the test.

The difficulties for Delhi did not end here. Regular captain Akshar Patel also could not play this match due to being ill. Stand-in captain Faf du Plessis said during the toss, “He is very ill for the last two days. We will miss them today. The letters are equal to two players and it is difficult to replace them. Let’s see what happens next.”
