Mumbai: Mumbai Indians (Mi) owner Akash Ambani congratulated Indian team veteran opener Rohit Sharma on Friday, as a stand in his name has been inaugurated at Wankhede Stadium. Rohit has been a strong pillar of not only the Indian team, but also the Mumbai Indians franchise.
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) inaugurated four new facilities at the Wankhede Stadium, Sharad Pawar Stand, Rohit Sharma Stand, Ajit Wadekar Stand, and MCA Office Lounge. On this occasion, Mumbai Indians shared a video of Akash Ambani, in which he praised Rohit.
Akash Ambani said, “Rohit, congratulations. A young boy of Borivali, whose name has been recorded at the Wankhede Stadium – one of the world’s most prestigious cricket sites today. From representing the state of Mumbai to play and lead for the country, and definitely your journey to become a legend for Mumbai Indians is inspired to everyone.”
He further said, “This achievement can inspire generations to come. This journey of becoming one of the best cricketers in the world from a simple beginning is fantastic. It will be a pride for me to walk with you under that stand in the last home match of this season. Congratulations and many good wishes.”
Rohit Sharma has given Mumbai Indians the title of IPL five times. Apart from this, he has so far scored 19,700 runs, 49 centuries and three double centuries in 499 international matches. The right -handed batsman’s 264 -run score is ODI cricket’s biggest personal score. Recently he retired from Test cricket, in which he scored 4,301 runs, including 12 centuries.
