Ireland beat Zimbabwe by 6 wickets to level series 1-1, Curtis Camphor named ‘Jeet Hero’

Delhi: In the second ODI played at Harare Sports Club on 16 February 2025, Ireland defeated Zimbabwe by 6 wickets to equalize the series 1-1. Batting first, Zimbabwe scored 245 runs in the scheduled 50 overs, while Ireland achieved the target by losing 4 wickets in 48.4 overs.

Zimbabwe’s batting

After losing the toss, Zimbabwe’s team came out to bat first and started shocking in the beginning. In the top order of the team, Wesley Madhevere played 61 runs from 70 balls and Sikander Raza played important innings of 58 runs from 75 balls. Together, both of them shared a 74 -run partnership for the fourth wicket.

However, there was a decrease in the contribution of the remaining batsmen, and the Zimbabwe team reached 245 runs after losing all wickets in 49 overs. In Ireland’s bowling, Mark Adire performed brilliantly and took 4 wickets for 54 runs in 10 overs, while Curtis Camphor took 3 wickets for 13 runs in 5 overs.

Ireland’s return

In response, Ireland also started firmly. Captain Paul Sterling scored a brilliant innings of 89 off 102 balls, and Curtis Camphor scored 63 off 94 balls. The brilliant partnership between these two brought Ireland closer to victory. Among the Zimbabwe bowlers, Trevor Wesley Gwandu took 2 wickets for 50 runs in 9 overs, while Blessing Mujrabani took 1 wicket for 51 runs in 10 overs. Ireland completed the target of 248 runs by losing 4 wickets in 48.4 overs.

With this victory of Ireland, the series has reached 1-1. Curtis Camphor’s all -round performance (63 runs and 3 wickets) managed to give him the ‘Player of the Match’ award. Now the third and decisive ODI between the two teams will be played on 18 February 2025 at Harare Sports Club.
