Delhi: Former Indian all -rounder Irfan Pathan said on Thursday that there is a tremendous passion among the youth of Kashmir about cricket, but they are constantly getting opportunities and proper infrastructure to pursue it.

At the inauguration of the ‘Epic Victory Cricket League’ (EVCL) in Srinagar, Pathan said that the new league will help to bring out the hidden talent.

40-year-old Irfan Pathan said at Hotel Radison during the press conference, “I have seen myself, a left-arms of Kupwara, Baramulla’s boys… They have fire, what is less, what is less exposure and right training.”

He informed that EVCL will provide an important platform not only for Jammu and Kashmir, but also for the youth of states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. The league will include emerging players as well as experienced domestic players, which will give them a chance to learn and guide.

Irfan Pathan said, “This is not just a tournament, but a life -changing platform. The former Indian all -rounder also told that players in Kashmir are in dire need of turf wickets for national level preparations.

He further said, “The emergence of women cricketers from this region is not only inspiring, but it is also a clear indication that the youth here, whether boys or girls, are completely dedicated and serious about creating a special identity.”

Irfan Pathan has previously worked with the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA). The former veteran said that he has seen the hunger of youth for cricket even in remote areas of the valley.
