Delhi: After the crushing 3-1 defeat in the five-match Test series against Australia, former Indian team all-rounder Irfan Pathan has strongly criticized the great batsman Virat Kohli. Pathan says that now the time has come when the Indian team management should give opportunities to young players in place of Kohli.

Kohli’s performance on the Australia tour was disappointing. He scored a total of 190 runs in five matches, which included one century. On Kohli’s poor form, Pathan raised questions about his technical shortcomings and lack of preparation. Pathan says that Kohli was in constant trouble on balls going outside the off-stump and was out like this eight times.

Pathan criticized Virat and said that he did not try to overcome his technical shortcomings nor played domestic cricket. Pathan said, “Superstar culture should end now. We need team culture. Kohli got a chance to play domestic cricket, but he ignored it. The last time he played domestic cricket was a decade ago.”

Irfan further said, “Virat Kohli’s performance has been declining for the last few years. His Test average in 2024 was only 15 and could not even cross 30 in the last five years. In such a situation, it would be better to give a chance to a young player who can score runs at an average of at least 25-30 for the team. This is important for the future of the team.”
