Delhi: India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and Australia’s all-rounder Annable Sutherland have been chosen as the ICC Men’s and Women’s Players of the Month for December 2024.
32 wickets in 9 innings
Jasprit Bumrah performed brilliantly in the series against Australia. He took 32 wickets in 9 innings and his average was 13.06. Bumrah achieved the feat of taking five wickets thrice in this series. Due to his excellent performance, even though India lost the series 1-3, he got the title of ‘Player of the Series’.
The Indian fast bowler won the title for the second time, defeating other contenders, Pat Cummins and Dan Patterson. This award was given through voting by global fans and ICC Hall of Famers, former international players and media representatives.
Bumrah’s statement
Expressing happiness over his win, Bumrah said, “I am very happy to be selected as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for December. It is always special to be honored for personal achievements. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been one of the most tightly contested series ever. It is a matter of pride for me to perform for my country.”
