Delhi: On Sunday, April 20, the biggest match of IPL 2025 will be played between two largest teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Mumbai Indians (Mi) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Both teams have become champions five or five times so far and their collision is often called ‘L Classico of IPL’.
Whenever these teams are face to face, the match is not only for two digits, but the thinking, strategy and experience of two veterans are also seen. This is because two veterans like Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni will face face to face.
Rohit Sharma said to play against Dhoni
Talking to Star Sports, former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma praised MS Dhoni. He said, “Dhoni has captained for so many years, has won so many trophies, you can never relax while playing against him. He never lets the match slip by hand, so you have to be alert in the whole match.”
Rohit’s poor form became a matter of concern
Even though Rohit Sharma’s name is among the most successful players of IPL, but the 2025 season has been disappointing for him so far. After losing the captaincy, he is being used as an ‘impact player’. Rohit has scored only 82 runs in the 6 matches played so far, his average has been 13.67.
However, against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he scored 26 runs off 16 balls, including 3 sixes, but this innings could not save him from criticism.
Captain Dhoni returned
MS Dhoni is called the ‘Midas Touch’ of cricket. He not only made Chennai Super Kings champions many times, but also gave Indian cricket a new direction.
From winning the T20 World Cup in 2007 to the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013, Dhoni showed the captaincy which was rarely seen in Indian cricket history. In Test cricket too, making India the number 1 team is included in their achievements.
