Delhi: India’s strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai has resigned from his role with the national team. He was handling the responsibility of this department since 2021, but now he has decided to give up this role to adopt other career options. Desai worked with Ravi Shastri and later Rahul Dravid, along with Gautam Gambhir for a short time.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Siraj performed brilliantly and confirmed his place in all three formats. Siraj and Desai had a close relationship, and on their farewell, Siraj wrote a passionate letter. This star fast bowler described him not just a coach, but a guide and brother.
Siraj wrote in his Instagram post, “It is not easy to say goodbye to someone who is not just a coach, but like a guide, mentor and brother. It is not an end, but will be like ‘again. You inspired us to become better, strong and more disciplined, not only physically, but also mentally. “
He further wrote, “Wherever I am, there is a big contribution of your faith and support in it. You never helped me overcome the difficult time, never allowed me to give up. Training sessions were difficult, hard work was real, but you always assured us that we can do even better, and you were right. In this journey you will be like elder brother, and your shortage will be felt in dressing room, gym and every sprint.”
Significantly, Mohammad Siraj was dropped from India’s Champions Trophy team, as captain Rohit Sharma questioned his impact in the ODI format. However, after a good IPL season, Siraj is now ready for England tour, where he will play the series of five Test matches. In the absence of Mohammed Shami, he will be the lead fast bowler after Jaspreet Bumrah.
