Delhi: Jai Shah, former Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has been included as a member of the new ‘Cricket Connects Advisory Council’ of Merilbon Cricket Club (MCC). This council will replace the old World Cricket Committee of MCC.

Jai Shah could not join it when MCC inaugurated the ‘World Cricket Connects Forum’ last year. In this program, more than 100 prominent personalities discussed the development of cricket.

Now Jai Shah is among the founding members of the 13 -member ‘Cricket Connections Advisory Council’ headed by former MCC President Kumar Sangakkara. The council also includes veterans like Sourav Ganguly, Graeme Smith, Andrew Strauss, Heather Night and Jio Star’s sports head Sanjog Gupta.

MCC has announced that the second ‘World Cricket Connects Forum’ will be held on 7 and 8 June at Lord’s, the ICC World Test Championship will be held just before the final of 2025. MCC chief Mark Nicholas said, “It is a matter of pride for us to welcome the effective faces of the cricket world to discuss some important issues of cricket.”

This new council will replace the World Cricket Committee formed in 2006, which made important suggestions such as DRS, pink ball test, world test championship, and slow over rate timeout.
