Delhi: Former England veteran fast bowler James Anderson is ready to return to competitive cricket after about a year. He can play for Lancashire in the county championship match starting against Derbyshire in Old Trafford from Friday.

42 -year -old Anderson, who is the most successful fast bowler in the history of Test cricket, has taken 704 wickets so far. This is the highest figure taken by any England player in red-ball cricket. He last played a Test match against the West Indies at Lord’s in June 2023, after which he has not landed in any competitive match.

During this time, Anderson has been playing the role of a bowling advisor with the England team. He has told many times that his passion to play is still intact.

Lancashire hopes that Anderson’s return will strengthen his team. The team is currently at the bottom of the second division and has not been able to register a single win till now. Captain Keaton Jennings also left the post this week due to poor performance.

Bridan Cars and James Ru also return

England fast bowler Bridan Cars may also return to county cricket soon. He has been included in Durham’s team, which will play a competition against Nottinghamshire, the top team of First Division.

Cars had an impressive performance in England’s Pakistan and New Zealand tour, but in recent months they stayed away from cricket due to their legs injury. England hope that he will be able to get fitness at the county level and be available for the Test series against India starting on June 20.

James Ru is a chance in Test team, yet county matches will play

21 -year -old emerging batsman James Ru of England will also participate in this week championship matches. He has been included in the team for the only Test against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge next week, but still he has been allowed to play against Sussex on behalf of Summerset.

Ru has got a place in the Test team as a backup player instead of injured Jordan Cox. After the Lafbaro training camp, it was decided that the test debut of Rs will happen only when a batsman already selected had to be out.
