Delhi: Former English cricketer Steven Finn has described Indian fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah as the “complete fast bowler” ever. Finn believes that Bumrah is ahead of bowlers like James Anderson, Stuart Broad, Kagiso Rabada, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazelwood. Finn said that Bumrah’s 5/83 bowling in the Leeds Test was such that it was rarely seen on this historic ground.
Bumrah took wickets on England’s pitch when the rest of the bowlers were not getting any help. This was the 14th of his career and the third five wickets in England. He became the first Indian bowler to take five wickets in England three times. Along with this, he equaled Kapil Dev and also became the most wicket -taking Asian bowler in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia).
Finn praises Bumrah
Finn said in his column written in BBC, “Now it is not difficult to believe that Bumrah is the best fast bowler ever. He is clear every time when he bowls, his impact on the match is clear. What he did in the leads Test was far above the rest.”
He further said, “When Bumrah has a ball in his hand, something is realized on every ball.
Finn, who took 125 Test wickets, also praised Bumrah’s action and his release point and said that it makes him very difficult for the batsmen to play. At the same time, he also added that Bumrah is known not only for his action, but also for his thinking and ability to understand the game.
He said that Bumrah was considered to be the captain of the Test team, but he himself refused to take this responsibility as he was not in a position to play in every match and wanted to do justice to the team.
Finn described Bumrah as the best bowler in both Test and T20 formats.
