Delhi: Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been nominated for ICC Player of the Month for the second consecutive time. He received this nomination for his excellent bowling against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The shortlist of men’s and women’s Player of the Month for December 2024 was released on Tuesday.
Bumrah’s excellent record
World number one Test bowler Bumrah ended the year in the same style as he started it. He took 22 wickets in three test matches played in December. In the series against Australia, he played a key role in putting India in a strong position by taking 4/61 in Adelaide, 6/76 in Brisbane and 9 wickets in Melbourne. His performance in the Melbourne Test earned him the highest rating points so far among Indian bowlers. Bumrah is now hoping to win his second “Player of the Month” trophy. Apart from this, he is also claiming to win the “Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy” for 2024.
Pat Cummins- Dane Pietersen also nominated
On the other hand, Australian captain Pat Cummins has also got a place in this list for his excellent bowling performance. He scored 144 runs and took 17 wickets in December. In the Adelaide Test, he helped Australia win by 10 wickets with figures of 5/57 in the second innings of the Indian team. Even in Melbourne, he played an important role in Australia’s 184-run victory.
South African fast bowler Dan Pietersen has also been nominated for “Player of the Month” for the first time. He took 13 wickets in two test matches. In the second test against Sri Lanka, he won the title of player of the match by performing 5/71.
