Main point:
India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from the Oval Test. This decision was taken in view of his back injury. Aksha Deep will replace him while Arshdeep Singh can get a chance to make a test debut. Siraj is sure to play.
Delhi: The fifth and last match of the ongoing Test series between India and England is to be played at the Oval. India lags behind 1-2 in the series and is a great opportunity to equalize the match. But, despite this, the BCCI medical team has decided to relax fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah from this match.
Bumrah will not play to protect against injury
According to Espncricinfo’s report, it has been decided not to feed Bumrah’s fitness in the Oval Test. Bumrah is currently fully fit, but the team management does not want to take risk to keep his career long.
Even before this, Gautam Gambhir and Bumrah had said at the beginning of the series that Bumrah will play only three Tests. He had to face back injury due to overbolling last time on the tour of Australia. Keeping this in mind, this precautions are being taken.
Hope to play till the end
However, two days before the Oval Test, Batting Coach Sitanshu Kotak said that Bumrah is fit to play and the final decision will be taken coach, captain and physio. Till then it was not clear that Bumrah would be out.
But, since Bumrah bowled in just one innings in the last match and after that only got a break of three days, India did not take the risk and thought it right to rest.
Who will play now,
Akashdeep will be included in the team in place of Bumrah. He was not able to play the fourth test due to Grin injury, but is now fully fit. In the Adjbston Test, he performed brilliantly with 10 wickets.
Arshdeep Singh is also now ready for Test debut. He will join the team instead of Anshul Kamboj. Mohammad Siraj is believed to be playing and he will play the fifth consecutive Test.
