Orange alert is issued due to rain in Kolkata, due to which the opening match of IPL 2025 may be canceled.
The tournament that the cricket lover was waiting for is now going to start soon. IPL 2025 is going to start from Saturday, 22 March. The first match of the tournament will be played at the Eden Gardens between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, rain can turn water on the excitement of fans.
Orange alert has been issued in Kolkata due to rain, due to which the match is likely to be canceled. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has estimated thunderstorms, electricity and rain in Kolkata till 22 March due to an antisiclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal. In such a situation, if it rains on the evening of 22 March, then the match can be canceled.
IMD released Orange Alert in Kolkata
IMD said, “A trough remains from Central Odisha to Vidarbha, and due to the above trough and antisiclonic circulation at the bottom of the Bay of Bengal, there is a confluence of air in the middle of central and adjacent central India. On 20 and 21 March, there is a possibility of thunderstorms, power and strong winds in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
The regional weather forecast agency said, “The districts of West Bengal from 20 to 22 March 2025 have thunderstorms activity. Due to the presence of the entry of air patterns and strong moisture from the Bay of Bengal at the lower out-of-the-day levels, some districts of West Bengal are likely to receive rains during 20-22 March 2025.
The first match of IPL 2025 will begin with a stunning opening ceremony, with popular singers Shreya Ghoshal, Karan Auzla and actress Disha Patani performing at the inauguration ceremony. However, Orange Alert has made the fans a bit disappointed.
