Delhi: Indian cricket team’s legendary batsman Virat Kohli is included among the greatest players of the current era. He has broken many records of the great batsman Sachin Tendulkar. However, former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar believes that Kohli can never become a bigger player than Sachin. He has given a special reason behind this.
‘Happy 9 Baby’, Ritika Sajdeh wished husband Rohit Sharma on his 9th wedding anniversary.
Shoaib said, “Kohli can never be a bigger player than Sachin, because he did not face the same level of bowling that Sachin faced in his career. This is not Kohli’s fault, but he has played in an era where the standard of bowling is not that high. Sachin played cricket in a different challenging era against reverse swing and fast bowlers.”
Referring to the lack of star players in current cricket, Shoaib said, “In today’s time, Kohli is the biggest brand. There is no other player like Kohli who can perform at his level. He has scored more than 80 international centuries. His achievements cannot be ignored.”
Comparison of centuries of Sachin and Kohli
Sachin Tendulkar scored 100 international centuries (51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs) in his 24-year career. At the same time, Virat Kohli has scored 81 centuries since his debut in 2008, which includes 30 in Test, 50 in ODI and 1 century in T20 International. Kohli recently played an unbeaten 100* against Australia in the Perth Test. However, he was out early in the second test.
According to Shoaib, even though Kohli’s success is unmatched, it is not right to compare him with players like Sachin.
