Kohli’s best friend: Virat could play till 40.

Delhi: Virat Kohli, the great batsman of the Indian cricket team, surprised everyone by announcing his retirement from Test cricket earlier this week. 36 -year -old Kohli’s childhood friend and former Team India fast bowler Ishant Sharma has reacted to the decision. Ishant said that he did not expect this, because Kohli is so physically and mentally fit that he could play till the age of 40.

Talking to Star Sports, Ishant said, “I think she is mature and knows what she is doing. I have not talked to her after retirement, but the friendship of both of us is fixed on the fact that we never pressurize each other, as long as you are playing, it is necessary to be normal. That is why our friendship is so strong.”

Ishant also said that Kohli must have consulted someone closely before taking this big decision. He further said, “Finally we are humans and good friends too. He knows what he wanted in life. Yes, I was surprised, because I thought he could play 2-3 years more, maybe till the age of 40.”

Apart from Kohli, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has also announced his retirement from Test cricket. After the departure of both the veterans, the discussion about the captaincy of the Test team has intensified. Ishant gave his opinion in this context and said that if Jaspreet Bumrah remains fit, then he would be his first choice.

Ishant said, “If Bumrah is fit, I would like to see him as captain. He has experience and he can lead the team. But if he does not play all five Tests, then Shubman Gill can be a suitable option.”

Now it has to be seen that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), who handles the command of the team before the Test series against England and whether the young players manage to handle this new responsibility or not.
