Kolkata receives a major blow before RCB Vs KKR game, two key players ruled out

Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have suffered a major setback before the rest of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 matches. England all -rounder Moin Ali has withdrawn the name from the remaining matches of the tournament due to personal reasons. He had played 6 matches for KKR so far this season, in which only 6 wickets were taken.

Apart from this, West Indies batsman Rowman Powell is also reported to have injuries. He is currently in UAE and due to injury, the situation regarding his playing is not clear yet. Along with Powell, the rest of KKR’s Caribbean players are also present in the UAE.

KKR’s big shock before IPL starts again

There are only a few days left for IPL 2025 to resume. In such a situation, KKR is worrying about its foreign players. According to the report of ESPNcricinfo, Moin Ali has already decided to withdraw from the team and Powell’s injury has also become a cause of concern. KKR is now planning to sign at least one temporary replacement player. Powell’s absence will be a big shock for the team, as they contribute to both bat and ball.

In such a situation, KKR management is now preparing to include a temporary foreign player in the team.

The rest of the foreign players reached Bangalore

Some relief for KKR is that the rest of his foreign players have reached India. Quinton de Kock and Spencer Johnson, whose availability had questions, have reached Bangalore. Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz has also joined the team.

How will KKR reach the playoff?

KKR is currently ranked sixth in the points table. The team has so far won 5 out of 11 matches and has faced defeat in 6. If the team has to make a place in the playoffs, then they will have to win both their remaining matches.

The IPL 2025 is again starting from Saturday, 17 May. The first match will be played between RCB and KKR at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. If the KKR loses this match, then the expectations of going into the playoffs will almost end.
