The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has held a 6 -hour long emergency meeting in the Bengaluru stampede case on 7 June today. Significantly, after winning the trophy of IPL 2025, 11 people died in a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the Victory Celebration of RCB team, while more than 50 people were injured.
So at the same time, in view of the seriousness of the case, the Karnataka High Court had taken suo motu cognizance to take a decision on the case and listen to the side of the parties ie KSCA, RCB, Karnataka Police and DNA Entertainment Private Limited.
Following this tragic incident, the joint resignation of two top KSCA officials and Treasurer ES Jairam reached the association’s office. Both of them had decided to stay away from the case citing moral grounds and a day later, the managing committee headed by KSCA President Raghuram Bhat accepted the resignation of both officers after a six -hour emergency meeting on Saturday, 7 June.
KSCA President Raghuram Bhat made a big statement
After this emergency meeting held in the Bengaluru stampede case, KSCA President Raghuram Bhat said- I had called an emergency meeting of the management committee, in which decisions were to be taken. Two of our members, Settery (A Shankar) and Treasurer (ES Jairam) have resigned. On moral grounds he felt that it was not eligible for the post, so he resigned.
Therefore, this meeting was called, because I had to put before the committee to accept the resignation. The committee praised his work, whatever he has done for two and a half years. His resignation has been accepted. I cannot say anything more than this, because this matter is in court.
So at the same time, now the matter is pending in the Karnataka High Court, and the next hearing on the said case will be held on 10 June. Only after hearing the case, Raghuram Bhat will be able to comment on the appropriate time.
