1. India’s lowest test score ever

One of the biggest failures under Kohli’s captaincy came during the Adelaide Test against Australia in 2020, where India recorded its, the lowest test score ever, when the entire team was dismissed for 36 runs. It was a disappointing batting performance, in which no player could reach double points in the second innings. The match is one of the most disappointing moments in Indian Test history.

2. The first Indian captain to lose the match by ten wickets in ICC event

Another major setback during the 2021 T20 World Cup, when India suffered a crushing defeat against Pakistan by 10 wickets. This was the first time that the Indian team lost by such a margin in an ICC event. Pakistan, chasing a target of 152 runs without losing any wicket, won with 13 balls remaining.

3. The lowest team score in IPL history

Kohli’s name is also a disappointing record of his worst IPL performance, captaining Royal Challengers Bangalore. In 2017, RCB was dismissed for 49 runs chasing 132 runs in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, which set the lowest team score record in IPL history.
