Left-handed spinner passes away, BCCI and cricket giants pay tribute:

Delhi: A tragic news has come out from London amidst the Test series of five matches released between India and England. Former left -arm spinner Dilip Doshi of India died on Monday at the age of 77. However, the cause of his death has not been clear, but according to media reports, he died due to cardiovascular problems.

According to ESPNcricinfo report, Dilip Doshi died in London due to heart disease, where he had been living for the last several years. The left -handed experienced bowler played 33 Test matches for India and took 114 wickets. He did the feat to take 5 or more wickets in the innings 6 times.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) while paying tribute to Dilip Doshi on social media platform ‘X’ wrote, “We mourn the tragic demise of former India spinner Dilip Doshi. He died unfortunately in London. His soul should be peaceful.”

Dilip Doshi also performed well in ODI cricket. He took 22 wickets in 15 ODIs. Apart from this, in first class cricket, he represented Saurashtra, Bengal, Warvikshire and Nottinghamshire and took 898 wickets in a total of 238 matches. Significantly, Dilip Doshi played an important role in giving India a historic victory by taking five wickets in the 1981 Melbourne Test.

The convict made his debut in international cricket at the age of 32 and contributed significantly to the country in the 1970s.

Meanwhile, former Indian player and coach Ravi Shastri, while condoling the X, wrote, “He was very sad to hear about the death of Dilip Doshi. He was always an impeccable, a gentle person and the best bowler. Heartfelt condolences to his family. His soul should be peaceful.”

At the same time, former captain and veteran leg -spinner Anil Kumble wrote, “Hearing the news of Dilip Bhai’s death is broken. God gives his family and close power to bear this sorrow. Nayan, I am thinking about you in this difficult time, friend.”
