Delhi: This Border-Gavaskar Trophy tour was not memorable for India, because Australia showed its excellent playing ability and won the series 3-1. But, there were some pleasant moments for Indian fans and many rays of hope for the future were seen. The biggest thing among these was the brilliant performance of young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Yashasvi’s brilliant performance

Overall, Yashasvi played brilliantly in the series. He scored 391 runs in 10 innings with an average of around 44. This included a century at the Optus Stadium in Perth, which gave India its only win. Apart from this, he scored 80+ runs twice in the match played in Melbourne, where he unfortunately missed out on a century.

Yashasvi was India’s highest run-scorer, and only Australian batsman Travis Head scored more runs than him in the entire series.

Khawaja and Vaughan praised

After the tour, Yashasvi shared pictures on his Instagram and wrote, “Learned a lot in Australia… The result was not in our favor, but we will return stronger.”

Yashasvi’s performance was praised not only by the fans but also by the opposition players and experts. Australian opener Usman Khawaja, himself an experienced batsman, commented on Yashasvi’s post, “Love your work brother,” along with an emoji.

Similarly, former England captain Michael Vaughan, who is known for his outspoken views, also praised him highly. Vaughan wrote on Yashasvi’s post, “You are a superstar… It’s good to watch you play.”
