Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka has announced that he has decided his captain for IPL 2025. However, he said that whoever has been made captain among Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran will be announced very soon.

Let us tell you that Lucknow Super Giants had retained Nicholas Puran for Rs 21 crore before the auction. Not only this, Lucknow team bought Rishabh Pant in the IPL 2025 auction for Rs 27 crore. With this, Rishabh Pant has now become the most expensive player of this tournament.

Aakash Chopra shared a video on his official YouTube channel in which he asked questions about the Lucknow Super Giants captain. To this Sanjeev Goenka replied, ‘People get surprised very quickly. According to me, I don’t give surprises. The captain has been decided and we will announce it in the coming days.

Regarding making a big bid on Rishabh Pant, Sanjeev Goenka said, ‘Delhi Capitals had bid Rs 26.50 crore on Shreyas Iyer. This meant that Iyer was their number 1 player. I knew that Parth Jindal would definitely want to include Rishabh Pant in his team and he would bid more for Pant than Shreyas. This is why we also decided to bid on Rishabh Pant.

So will Rishabh Pant be seen opening the Lucknow team in IPL 2025?

Regarding Rishabh Pant’s batting order in the Indian Premier League 2025, Sanjeev Goenka said, ‘We had decided that the middle order of the team should be strong and more and more Indian players should be included. However, the auction did not go as planned as we had planned. We also wanted to include Jos Buttler in our team but it could not happen. Zaheer Khan, Justin Langer and the captain will decide whether Rishabh Pant should open or bat in the middle order.

Apart from Rishabh Pant, we also have the option of Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram as openers. Now it is up to him whether Rishabh Pant bats at number three or number two. This thing is not in my hands and the decision has to be taken by the team management.
