Delhi: The 30th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is being played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) led by Rishabh Pant is facing MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In this match, CSK won the toss and decided to bowl first. Dhoni said that the team has made two major changes. Ravichandran Ashwin and Devon Conway have been excluded and Sheikh Rashid and Jamie Overn are replaced in the team.
Why did Ashwin and Conway get out?
This season had high expectations from Ashwin, but he has taken only 5 wickets in 6 matches played so far and his economy rate has also been close to 10. This was the reason that the team management decided to make them sit out.
Lucknow’s pitch is not considered much helpful for spinners. In such a situation, the team changed the strategy and excluded Ashwin. Chennai already has two spinners like Ravindra Jadeja and Noor Ahmed, so the team felt that two spinners would be enough.
Apart from this, batsman Dewon Conway has also been excluded from the playing XI. In his place, young Indian batsman Sheikh Rashid has been given a chance in his opening. At the same time, England all -rounder Jamie overton has been included in the team, who also holds batting with fast bowling.
In this way Chennai has made some adventure changes in this match. Now it will be interesting to see how beneficial this decision on the Pitch of Ekana Stadium proves to be for the team.
