Delhi: Test cricket is proving challenging for Rohit Sharma in recent months. Firstly, under his captaincy, India suffered its first home whitewash against New Zealand. After this, India did not get a single win under his captaincy in the last five matches (four losses, one draw). His performance as a batsman has also been disappointing. He has scored only 152 runs in his last 13 innings, which is nothing but one half-century at an average of 11.69.

Rohit is batting at number 6
Rohit Sharma is now batting at number 6 on the Australia tour, but till now his three innings have been of 3, 6 and 10 runs. However, former Indian coach Ravi Shastri said in an episode of ICC Review that Rohit can be dangerous for the opposition team even at this number, he just has to change his strategy a bit.
Dangerous Rohit at number 6
Ravi Shastri said, “Rohit can prove to be dangerous for the opposition team even at this number, because till now he has not been able to spend much time at the crease. If he adopts his aggressive approach and counter-attacks, his form can come back. All the best No. 6 batsmen in the world are experts in counter attack, and Rohit has all types of shots. He can make this change in the conditions of Australia.”
Manjrekar has different opinion from Shastri
However, former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar gave a different opinion from Shastri. He said in ESPNcricinfo’s ‘Straight Talk’ program that Rohit has a weakness in defence. Another important thing is that in this series, Rohit has batted slowly in every innings. In the first innings in Adelaide, he faced 23 balls for 3 runs, in the second innings he faced 15 balls for 6 runs and in Brisbane also he faced 27 balls for 10 runs.
