Delhi: Former England captain Michael Vaughan recently advised Mumbai Indians (Mi) star batsman Rohit Sharma to return to his form to think that he is playing wearing India’s jersey, not his IPL franchise. Vaughan’s comment brought Rohit’s poor form in IPL 2025, where he has failed to make an impact so far. Especially, his performance in the match played against Gujarat Titans (GT) on March 29 was also disappointing. Vaughan believes that if Mumbai Indians have to make a place in the playoffs this season, then it will be very important to score Rohit Sharma.
In the match played against Gujarat Titans, Rohit Sharma became a victim of Mohammad Siraj by scoring just 8 runs. Due to his early dismissal, the batting of Mumbai Indians stumbled and the team suffered a 36 -run defeat in Ahmedabad. During a conversation with Cricbuzz, Michael Vaughan gave him interesting suggestions to return to Rohit’s form.
Won said, “He just has to imagine that he is wearing a blue jersey of the Indian team, not Mumbai Indians. He is a great batsman. If Mumbai has to win the trophy this year, Rohit will have to score runs. He will have to give his team a fast start, will have to bring back his confidence and rhythm.”
He further said, “I think if Rohit Sharma does not come in form, it will be difficult for Mumbai Indians to reach the playoffs. He is one of the few players who have the ability to win the match on their own.”
Earlier, Rohit Sharma was dismissed for zero in only four balls in the first match of the current season against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In such a situation, new concerns have arisen about his form.
