Delhi: In the semi -final match of the Champions Trophy 2025, Mohammed Shami showed excellent bowling between India and Australia. Shami took three important wickets for 48 runs in a 10 -over spell at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He dismissed Cooper Conoli (0), Captain Steve Smith (73) and Nathan Ellis (10). With this performance, he made his team a strong return against Australia, which led to Australia’s team for 264 runs in 49.3 overs.
Shami broke Wasim Akram’s record
Shami broke the record of former Pakistan’s Pesar Wasim Akram and India’s great spinner Harbhajan Singh, creating a big record with his bowling in this match. Shami has now reached the sixth position in the list of bowlers who took the most wickets in the ICC ODI tournament. So far, he has 63 wickets in his account, leaving Akram behind, who took 62 wickets.

Shami’s position in ICC ODI tournament
Now Shami has become the only Indian bowler to take more than 60 wickets in the ICC ODI tournament. Former Australian bowlers Glenn McGrath (92) and Sri Lanka’s great spinner Muttiah Muralitharan (92) are jointly at the top in this list. This is followed by Lasith Malinga (81), Mitchell Starc (72) and Chaminda Vas (67).
Shami’s record in ICC ODI knockout
Apart from this, Shami also broke the record of the third highest wicket -taker for India in ICC ODI knockout matches. He has so far taken 13 wickets in five ODI knockout innings. With this, he has left behind Harbhajan Singh and reached third place in this list. Harbhajan took 11 wickets in 8 innings.

Zaheer Khan has the highest record of the highest wicket record in ICC ODI knockout matches for India, who took 17 wickets in 11 innings. After this, the name of Sachin Tendulkar (15 wickets in 14 innings) comes. Venkatesh Prasad and Anil Kumble also finished fifth jointly with 10-10 wickets.
